The village of Melampes has a small mini market for essential items and within a short 15 minute journey  you will reach Agia Galini, the charming fishing village and resort. Agia Galini has all the amenities you need during your stay, including supermarkets, bakery, pharmacy, cafes, tavernas and shops, all sprinkled within the charming narrow streets and harbour area.

The area around the villa is totally natural and quiet, so you will be able to relax and feel “away from it all” from the moment you arrive. It is the perfect location if you wish to stay away from the tourist areas of Crete.  If you like to explore, the villa is a great base from which to discover the unique natural environment of inland Crete. Explore villages, interact with the locals, find taverns with real Cretan cuisine and discover some totally isolated beaches! 

Additionally, the well known village of Spili is around 23kms away. The picturesque mountain village has cafes, tavernas and a pretty square famous for its lion's head fountains. It is also well known for its handcrafted goods. 

The town of Rethymno is within an hour's drive. Famous for its beautiful Venetian and Turkish Architecture, the old town is truly beautiful to explore. Rethymno Fortress stands as the proud protector of the town  which is home to fabulous restaurants, shops, cafes and museums.
